Rhode Island Summons-Criminal is a document issued by a court or other judicial authority that orders a person to appear in court to answer criminal charges. It may also be used to order a person to appear in court to provide testimony or evidence as a witness. There are three types of Rhode Island Summons-Criminal: Bench Warrants, Complaint Summons, and Grand Jury Subpoenas. A Bench Warrant is a court order for an individual’s arrest for failure to appear in court or for the violation of a court order. A Complaint Summons is issued to a person who is accused of a crime and is ordered to appear in court to answer the charges. A Grand Jury Subpoena is an order from a court for a person to appear before a grand jury to provide testimony or evidence.
