The Pennsylvania Burial Allowance is a financial benefit provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services to help cover some costs associated with the burial of a deceased family member. The Burial Allowance is only available to families whose income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. The amount of the Burial Allowance is based on the family's income and the type of funeral expenses they have incurred. There are two types of Pennsylvania Burial Allowance: The Basic Burial Allowance and the Additional Burial Allowance. The Basic Burial Allowance is available to families whose income is below 150% of the federal poverty level and can cover up to $700 of funeral expenses. The Additional Burial Allowance is available to families whose income is between 150% and 200% of the federal poverty level and can cover up to $1,000 of funeral expenses.
