A Pennsylvania Affidavit of Service is a legal document used to certify that a legal document has been properly served, or delivered, to an individual or business. This type of affidavit is used to prove to a court that a copy of the document was delivered to the person or entity, and that they were aware of the contents. There are two types of Pennsylvania Affidavit of Service: Personal Service and Substitute Service. Personal Service requires the document to be delivered directly to the person or entity, and can be done by the person filing the affidavit or a third party such as a process server. Substitute Service requires the document to be delivered to a third party such as a family member of the person, or a business partner. The Affidavit of Service must be signed and notarized to be accepted by the court.
