A Final Permanency Order (Exit Order) in Oklahoma is a court order ending the parental rights of the biological parent or parents to a child. This order allows the child to either remain in foster care or be adopted by a new family. There are three types of Final Permanency Orders in Oklahoma: adoption, guardianship, and transfer of parental rights. An Adoption Permanency Order permanently ends the parental rights of the biological parent or parents and allows the child to be adopted into a new family. A Guardianship Permanency Order ends the parental rights of the biological parents and allows a court-appointed guardian to take legal and physical custody of the child. A Transfer of Parental Rights Permanency Order ends the parental rights of the biological parent or parents and transfers legal and physical custody to a designated individual. All Final Permanency Orders in Oklahoma must be approved by a judge in order to be considered legally binding.
