The New York Provider Electronic/Paper Transmitter Identification Number (TIN) is a unique identification number issued by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. It is used for electronic and paper filing of tax returns and payments. The TIN allows the Department of Taxation and Finance to identify and process tax returns and payments submitted by providers of health care services in New York State. There are two types of Tins: the Electronic Transmitter Identification Number (TIN), which is used for electronic filing of tax returns and payments, and the Paper Transmitter Identification Number (PAIN), which is used for paper filing of tax returns and payments.
