The Administration C.T.A. are special letters of administration you must petition for when the executor in the will refuses to act or cannot act due to death, incapacity or otherwise, or if the executor resigns or his letters testamentary are revoked by the Court. The C.T.A. portion means ?Cum Testamento Annexo?.

The letters C.T.A. are an acronym for the Latin phrase, ?Cum Testamento Annexo,? which in English means, ?with the Will annexed.? It is typical to have a person chosen by the writer of the Will (testator) as executor (or, for a female designee, ?executrix?) to execute their wishes and directives.

An Administration C.T.A. (With the Will Annexed) occurs where (1) a testator fails to appoint an executor in his/her Will or (2) where the named executor has died, renounced or otherwise failed to serve prior to the application for probate and the Will names no alternate or substitute executor. (
