Nebraska Domestic Abuse, Information, Protection Order Information is information regarding the Nebraska Domestic Abuse Protection Act, which provides legal protection for victims of domestic violence. This includes protection from physical, sexual, psychological, and economic abuse, as well as stalking. It also includes information on obtaining a Protection Order, which is a court order that orders the abuser to refrain from certain activities, such as contacting the victim, coming to the victim’s residence, or possessing a firearm. There are two types of protection orders in Nebraska, Temporary Protection Order (TPO) and Extended Protection Order (EPO). A TPO is granted for a period of up to 10 days, and an EPO is granted for up to one year. Additionally, information is provided on the resources available for victims of domestic violence, such as crisis hotlines, shelters, legal services, and counseling.
