Mississippi Proof of Coverage is a document that must be issued and maintained by all Mississippi insurers for each policyholder. It is the insurer's proof that a policyholder is covered by a particular policy. The Mississippi Insurance Department requires insurers to provide policyholders with a Mississippi Proof of Coverage when they purchase a policy. There are three types of Mississippi Proof of Coverage: Personal Auto, Homeowner's, and Commercial Property/General Liability. Personal Auto Proof of Coverage is issued for any automobile insurance policy. Homeowner's Proof of Coverage is issued for any homeowner's insurance policy. Commercial Property/General Liability Proof of Coverage is issued for any commercial property/general liability insurance policy. All Mississippi Proof of Coverage documents must include the policyholder's name, address, policy number, effective date, expiration date, and a description of the policy coverage.
