Description

Fair Housing - Promoting Discrimination-Free Neighborhoods

Missouri Fair Housing — Promoting Discrimination-Free Neighborhoods is an initiative by the Missouri Human Rights Commission in partnership with other state agencies to ensure that all Missourians have access to safe, affordable housing regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, familial status or ancestry. The initiative works to eliminate unlawful discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing in Missouri. It also encourages outreach and education to ensure that all Missourians are aware of their rights and obligations under federal and state fair housing laws. The initiative consists of three main programs: Fair Housing Public Education, Fair Housing Complaint Resolution, and Fair Housing Compliance. The Fair Housing Public Education program provides training and outreach to educate the public on housing discrimination, including information on how to recognize and report discrimination. The Fair Housing Complaint Resolution program provides assistance to individuals who believe they have experienced discrimination in housing. The Fair Housing Compliance program works with housing providers to ensure they are in compliance with state and federal fair housing laws.
