Michigan Request for Telephone Hearing (MATH) is a service provided by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). It allows people to request a hearing over the phone to contest a decision made by a state agency or department. This hearing is conducted by an administrative law judge and is an informal process. The MATH process is faster than a traditional in-person hearing, and is available for a variety of cases, including driver's license suspensions, unemployment benefits, and professional license denials. There are three types of Michigan Request for Telephone Hearing: Driver's License Suspension, Professional License Denial, and Unemployment Benefits.
