The Michigan Application for Certificate of Authority To Transact Business is a document that must be filed with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs by any out-of-state business wishing to conduct business in Michigan. The application includes information about the applicant's business, such as its name, address, type of business, and other pertinent information. Once approved, the business will be issued a Certificate of Authority to conduct business in Michigan. Depending on the type of business, additional documents and payments may also be required. There are two types of Michigan Applications for Certificate of Authority To Transact Business: Domestic or Foreign. A Domestic application is for a business that is incorporated in Michigan, and a Foreign application is for a business that is incorporated outside of Michigan.
