A Maryland Assisted Living Facility (ALF) is a residential care option for seniors that provides services such as assistance with daily activities, medication management, meals, and social activities. Alps are the most popular form of long-term care in the state of Maryland and provide a homelike setting with 24-hour care, support, and supervision. Types of Maryland Assisted Living Facilities include board and care homes, adult day care centers, and independent living communities. Board and care homes are staffed by licensed professionals who provide assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Adult day care centers are designed for seniors who need help with activities, but not 24-hour care. Independent living communities provide independent living services, but may also offer additional assisted living services. All Maryland Alps are licensed and regulated by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
