An Illinois Financial Affidavit is a legal document used in divorce or legal separation proceedings in the state of Illinois. It is used to disclose and document the financial assets, liabilities, and expenses of both parties in order to determine an equitable distribution of property and to establish the amount of child support and/or spousal support, if applicable. There are two types of Illinois Financial Affidavits: Short Form and Long Form. The Short Form is used for cases where the parties have no minor children and the gross income of the parties is less than $75,000. If either of these criteria is not met, the Long Form must be used. Both forms require the parties to provide detailed information about their income, assets, liabilities, and expenses.
