The Iowa Grain Tax Return is a form that Iowa grain producers must file annually with the Iowa Department of Revenue. The tax return is used to report and pay the Iowa Grain Tax, which is a levy imposed on grain produced and sold in Iowa. There are two types of Iowa Grain Tax Returns: the Iowa Grain Tax Return for Grain Producers and the Iowa Grain Tax Return for Grain Dealers. The Grain Producers Return is used to report and pay the tax on grain that has been sold or otherwise disposed of by the producer. The Grain Dealers Return is used to report and pay the tax on grain that has been purchased from producers or other dealers and resold in Iowa. Both returns require the completion of a schedule of grain production, sales, and/or purchases, and the calculation and payment of the applicable grain tax.
