Iowa Income Withholding For Support is a process by which an employer withholds income from an employee’s wages to satisfy a court order for child support, alimony, or other family support payments. The employer withholds the payments from the employee's wages and sends it to the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) Child Support Recovery Unit. There are two types of Iowa Income Withholding For Support: Court Order Withholding and Voluntary Withholding. Court Order Withholding occurs when a court order requires an employer to withhold income from an employee’s wages for child support, alimony, or other family support payments. Voluntary Withholding occurs when the employee or obliged (person responsible for paying child support) requests an employer to withhold income for child support payments.
