Georgia Consents To Legitimation is a document that legally establishes the paternity of a child born out of wedlock. This document is signed by the biological father and the mother of the child, before a notary public. By signing this document, both parents give their consent for the father to have all the legal rights and responsibilities of a father, including inheritance rights, child support payments, and custody rights. There are two types of Georgia Consent To Legitimation: one for a child born to an unmarried mother, and one for a child born to an unmarried father. In the former, the mother and the father must both sign the consent form in the presence of a notary public. In the latter, the father must sign the consent form in the presence of two witnesses, one of whom must be a notary public.
