Connecticut Registration of a Certification Mark is a process used to protect certification marks in the state of Connecticut. A certification mark is a distinctive sign, symbol, or words used by an organization to certify that a product, service, or activity meets certain standards. Connecticut Registration of a Certification Mark is a legal process that requires an application and an accompanying fee to be submitted to the Connecticut Secretary of State. There are three types of Connecticut Registrations of a Certification Mark, each with their own requirements. The first type is a Live/Active Registration, which requires the applicant to provide evidence of usage of the mark as well as an affidavit of the applicant's authorization to use the mark. The second type is an Intent to Use Registration, which requires the applicant to submit a statement of intent to use the mark in the future, and an explanation of how the mark will be used. The third type is a Renewal Registration, which requires the applicant to submit evidence of use of the mark in the past, as well as an affidavit of the applicant's authorization to renew the registration of the mark.
