A California Order on Motion to Vacate Conviction or Sentence is a legal document that is issued by a judge after a motion has been filed to vacate a criminal conviction or sentence for a person who is either serving or has served a sentence for a crime. The California Order on Motion to Vacate Conviction or Sentence is a formal document which legally sets aside a criminal conviction and/or sentence, allowing the defendant to have a fresh start in life. This order is sometimes referred to as an expungement, dismissal, or vacation order. There are three primary types of California Order on Motion to Vacate Conviction or Sentence: (1) Vacating a Conviction for a Felony; (2) Vacating a Conviction for a Misdemeanor; and (3) Vacating a Sentence.
