The Alabama Application for Issuance of a Foreign Subpoena is a legal document used to obtain documents, testimony, or other evidence located outside the state of Alabama that is relevant to a civil case. It is signed by an attorney under oath and filed with the Clerk of the Circuit Court. There are two types of Alabama Application for Issuance of a Foreign Subpoena: a Subpoena Ducks Cecum (SET) and a Subpoena Ad Testificandum (SAT). The SET is used to obtain documents and tangible evidence, while the SAT is used to obtain testimony from witnesses. Both require the court to issue a Commissions Ducks Cecum (CDT) or Commissions Ad Testificandum (CAT) to be served on the individual or entity outside of Alabama.
