Alaska Firefighter's Medical History & Evaluation is a comprehensive health assessment of a firefighter's personal and family medical history, current medical status, and physical fitness. It consists of a physical examination, medical testing, and other evaluations to assess the firefighter's overall physical and mental health. The evaluation includes an occupational history, a review of medications, and a mental health screening. Depending on the particular fire department, this evaluation may also include an eyesight test, a pulmonary function test, an electrocardiogram, and a drug screening. Different types of Alaska Firefighter's Medical History & Evaluation include the Pre-Employment Medical Evaluation, the Fitness-for-Duty Medical Evaluation, and the Post-Employment Medical Evaluation.
