3.8.12 Conviction for Serious Federal Drug Offense is a criminal conviction for a serious federal drug offense. This can include offenses such as trafficking, manufacturing, distributing, or possessing with intent to distribute controlled substances as defined by the United States Controlled Substances Act, as well as related offenses such as money laundering or engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise. The penalty for such offenses is dependent upon the type of drug and the amount in possession. Generally, this conviction carries a severe sentence including lengthy incarceration and/or hefty fines.
