Work search requires all Unemployment Compensation (UC), Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC), or Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claimants to apply for two jobs and complete one work search activity every week.
You may apply for jobs that would provide suitable work; that is, any work that you are capable of performing. However, you are allowed to limit your job applications to jobs that offer employment and wages similar to what you had before you became unemployed, and are within a 45 minute commute.

The following qualify as work search activities: Attending a job fair. Searching open positions on PA CareerLink® or job posting boards. Creating and uploading a resume to PA CareerLink® or job posting boards.
Some of the more common ones include: quitting your job without a necessary or compelling reason. loss of job due to intentional misconduct – generally on the job misconduct. failure to apply for or accept suitable work.

When a new UC application is filed, the claimant's work characteristics profile is compared to the profiles of previous claimants who exhausted their UC benefits before they found a new job. Claimants who are identified through this process are selected to attend an RESEA Orientation/Assessment interview.
You must have sufficient qualifying wages and a minimum of 18 credit weeks in your base year. You must have a qualifying separation. And, you must be able and available to accept suitable work and not refuse work when offered. UC eligibility cannot be predetermined.
Cover letters are comprised of at least 3 – 4 paragraphs and should be written in a manner that highlights the skills, abilities and accomplishments listed on your résumé. Additionally, the overall tone of your cover letter should be conversational and professional while relaying your enthusiasm for the organization.
