Unless leave of court is obtained, interrogatories may not be served prior to the meeting of the parties under Rule 26(f).

Once you've completed the form, you'll serve it by mail to the other attorneys or self-represented parties.

A photocopy of your form interrogatories must be served on the attorney for the responding party or directly to the responding party if he or she is self-represented (in pro per). Courtesy copies should be served on all other attorneys or self-represented parties in the case.

Fill out Proof of Service form You can use Proof of Service by Mail (form FL-335). It helps if you fill in the top part of the form with the case and court information. Your server can then fill in the information about how, when, and where they served the papers. Your server must then sign the form.

If you do not answer the questions by the deadline, which is usually about a month, the other side could ask the judge to order you to respond to the interrogatories. If you miss the second deadline, the judge could impose a fine against you or strike your pleadings.

There is no form for your answer, but you typically have to respond in a specified format, using paper with numbers down the left-hand side, with your name and address at the top left, the name of the court and of the case, and the case number.

When a party to a civil case needs to get information from the other side, she can serve the other side with written requests called “discovery requests.” These requests might include: Interrogatories, which are written questions about things that are relevant or important to the case. -1(b)(2), the party served with interrogatories shall serve answers thereto upon the party propounding them within 60 days after being served with the interrogatories.

(a) General. Records required to be kept confidential by statute, rule, or prior case law consistent with this rule, unless otherwise ordered by a court upon a finding of good cause. These records remain confidential even when attached to a non- confidential document.
