Description

The multi-state Employment Law Handbook provides a comprehensive overview of the Work Labor Law for minors in Cook and the U.S. It highlights the specific regulations that govern the employment of minors, indicating that children aged fourteen to sixteen may work in roles not deemed hazardous, provided their hours do not conflict with their education. Those aged sixteen to eighteen can work non-hazardous jobs, but stringent limitations exist on work hours and conditions to ensure their well-being. Additionally, the handbook outlines the legal obligations of employers regarding minimum wage, work hours, and required breaks for minor employees. For those looking to fill out forms related to these regulations, clear guidance is provided on how to properly input information and seek state-specific requirements. This handbook is essential for attorneys, partners, owners, associates, paralegals, and legal assistants who may need to advocate for or counsel clients on compliance with child labor laws, ensuring fair employment practices. It's designed not only to inform legal practitioners but also to assist them in navigating potential complexities in state laws surrounding minor employment.
