Training specialists, certified by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, provide trainings in more than 100 areas of public safety such as community engagement and anti-bias training. Incoming peace officers must go through 15 weeks of training, over 500 hours, to graduate from the Academy.
Qualifications A High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution plus two (2) years of full-time work experience OR successful completion of 60 college semester credits with a minimum grade point average of 2.0. Ability to speak, read, write and understand English. Be at least 21 years of age.
