A 3.0 GPA is the national average for all graduating high school students. Because of this, a 3.0 GPA means that you are eligible to apply at most (if not all) colleges and your application will be competitive for admission at many institutions.
Grade points are calculated using your letter grade on a conversion scale. For instance, at most schools an A+ grade equals 4.0 grade points while a B- grade equals 2.7 grade points. The weighted average of these numbers gives us your GPA.
What are the GPA requirements? Cumulative GPAs are generated from the Admissions department. If you do not have a GPA with Collin College, the system will generate a GPA from your previous high school, college or university. All applicants are required to have a minimum GPA of at least 2.5.
A grade of 'D' or better received at Collin or any other college is a passing grade and may not be repeated for benefits.
