18 U.S.C. Sec. 1465 prohibits the production, transport, transmission, and distribution of obscene material for sale or trade purposes. This applies to obscene visual depictions of sexual conduct, lascivious exhibition of the genitals or pubic area, and simulated or simulated sexual conduct. It also applies to audio recordings that contain obscene language or descriptions of sexual conduct. Under this law, it is illegal to knowingly produce, transport, transmit, or distribute obscene material for sale or trade. Penalties for violation of this law include a fine or imprisonment for up to five years, or both. There are two types of 18 U.S.C. Sec. 1465 offenses: production with intent to transport/distribute/transmit obscene material for sale or distribution, and the transportation/transmission/distribution of obscene material for sale or distribution.
