The New York Certificate of Good Standing (also known as a “Wall Certificate”) is an official document issued by the New York Department of State that confirms a company’s existence and valid corporate status in the state. It is a required document for many business activities, including applying for business loans, registering with the IRS, and participating in certain types of transactions. There are two types of New York Certificate of Good Standing / Wall Certificate: an Original Certificate, which is printed on special security paper and contains the embossed seal of the New York Department of State, and a Certified Copy, which is printed on plain paper and contains a certification seal. A New York Certificate of Good Standing / Wall Certificate is typically valid for one year, after which it must be renewed.
