Hawaii Transfer of Name Reservation is a process used to reserve a name for a business entity in Hawaii. This process is used to reserve a name before an entity is registered with the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (CCA). The CCA's Business Registration Division allows entities to reserve a name for up to 120 days. There are two types of Hawaii Transfer of Name Reservations: 1) an Initial Name Reservation, which reserves a name for an initial period of 120 days, and 2) an Extension Name Reservation, which can be used to extend the period of the Initial Name Reservation for an additional 60 days. The Extension Name Reservation must be filed before the Initial Name Reservation expires. The entity must file a new Initial Name Reservation to reserve the name after the Extension Name Reservation expires.
