Statement for Home Nursing Services
The Washington Statement for Home Nursing Services is a set of quality standards and best practices for the provision of home nursing services. It was developed by the Washington State Department of Health in 2017, and is intended to ensure the safety and quality of care for those receiving home nursing services throughout the state. The Washington Statement sets out a range of requirements for home nursing agencies, including the establishment of a Quality Management System, the implementation of a Professionalism and Quality Improvement Program, and the use of evidence-based practice. It also requires agencies to establish policies and procedures related to record keeping, staffing, and risk management. The Washington Statement for Home Nursing Services is broken down into four different types: 1. Home Nursing Agency Quality Management System (RMS) Standards — These standards outline the requirements for setting up a quality management system in a home nursing agency, such as the use of performance improvement plans, patient safety and quality assurance activities, and the implementation of a continual quality improvement process. 2. Home Nursing Agency Professionalism and Quality Improvement Program (PIP) Standards — These standards outline the requirements for setting up a Professionalism and Quality Improvement Program, such as the use of evidence-based practice, patient safety and quality assurance activities, and the implementation of a quality improvement process. 3. Home Nursing Agency Record Keeping Standards — These standards outline the requirements for setting up a record keeping system in a home nursing agency, such as the use of a patient record system, and the use of a patient tracking system. 4. Home Nursing Agency Staffing Standards — These standards outline the requirements for setting up a staffing system in a home nursing agency, such as the use of staffing plans, and the implementation of a personnel management system.
