Washington No-Contact Order (Reissued Pursuant to a Certificate and Order of Discharge)(CORN) is a civil court order issued by a Washington State court. The order prohibits the defendant (the person who is named as the respondent) from engaging in any form of contact with the petitioner (the person who requested the order). It can also prohibit the respondent from coming within a certain distance of the petitioner, or from entering certain locations where the petitioner is likely to be. This type of order is different from a criminal no-contact order, as it does not carry criminal penalties. The Washington No-Contact Order (Reissued Pursuant to a Certificate and Order of Discharge)(CORN) is issued as a result of a petition for a Protection Order or a Petition for a Domestic Violence Protection Order. It can be issued upon the completion of the petitioner’s certificate and order of discharge if they have completed the requirements of the order and are no longer subject to the criminal court’s jurisdiction. There are two types of Washington No-Contact Orders (Reissued Pursuant to a Certificate and Order of Discharge)(CORN): (1) a no-contact order, which prohibits the respondent from engaging in any form of contact with the petitioner, and (2) a restraining order, which prohibits the respondent from coming within a certain distance of the petitioner, or from entering certain locations where the petitioner is likely to be.
