A Washington Notice of Appeal is a legal document filed with the appropriate appellate court in the state of Washington to initiate an appeal of a lower court decision. It is the first step in the appeals process and must be filed within 30 days of the entry of the lower court’s order or judgment. The Notice of Appeal must include the name of the court from which the appeal is taken, the name of the party filing the appeal, the name of the respondent, the court of appeal where the appeal is filed, the case number, and the name of the trial judge. There are two types of Washington Notice of Appeal: an interlocutory appeal and a final appeal. An interlocutory appeal is an appeal of an intermediate order or ruling made by a trial court judge during a lawsuit. A final appeal is an appeal of a final judgment or order entered by a trial court judge.
