The Texas Application For Reservation or Renewal of Reservation of an Entity Name is a document used by Texas corporations to reserve or renew an entity name. This application must be filed with the Texas Secretary of State. It allows businesses to reserve or renew an entity name for a specific period of time. There are three types of applications: initial, renewal, and amendment. The initial application is used to reserve a name for the first time; the renewal application is used to extend the reservation of an existing name; and the amendment application is used to change the name being reserved. The application must include the name of the entity, the type of entity, the duration of the reservation, and the signature of the owner or authorized representative. The application must be notarized and the filing fee must be paid prior to filing. Once accepted, the reservation is valid for 120 days, extendable for an additional 120 days with a renewal application.
