A Rhode Island Entry of Appearance is a document filed with a court by an attorney to formally appear as a representative of a party in a court case. The entry of appearance is filed with the court clerk and serves as a notice to the court and all parties involved that the attorney is representing a specific party. There are three types of Rhode Island Entry of Appearance: general entry, limited entry, and trial entry. A general entry of appearance is used to let the court know that the attorney is representing the party for all aspects of the case. A limited entry of appearance is used to let the court know the attorney is representing the party in a specific, limited capacity. A trial entry of appearance is used to let the court know the attorney is representing the party for the duration of the trial.
