Rhode Island Pro HAC Vice — Client Certification is an application process for out-of-state attorneys who wish to practice in Rhode Island on a temporary basis. The process allows an attorney to appear in Rhode Island state court, without being admitted to the Rhode Island Bar, by obtaining a Pro HAC Vice Certification. The attorney must submit an application to the Supreme Court of Rhode Island, along with the required supporting documents, and a certification form signed by the attorney and the client. There are two types of Rhode Island Pro HAC Vice — Client Certification: Single Representation and Multiple Representation. Single Representation is for attorneys wishing to represent a single client in a single action in Rhode Island state court. Multiple Representation is for attorneys wishing to represent multiple clients in multiple actions in Rhode Island state court.
