This service is available to anyone, regardless of residence in the state. There are three types of Rhode Island Information Request: Open Records Request, General Records Request, and Special Records Request. An Open Records Request is a request for public records that are not confidential and may be made by any person at any time. A General Records Request is a request for public records that are not confidential, but may require additional processing time for release. A Special Records Request is a request for documents that are confidential or privileged and require additional processing time for release.
