No person thirty (30) years of age or younger may purchase or receive any hunting license or hunting tag unless the person possesses and can exhibit a certificate of competency and safety in the use an handling of firearms from the Wildlife Department except those following the apprentice rules.
Start the letter by introducing yourself, compliment their land and tell them why you are interested in hunting it. Explain your hunting ideologies and ethics, and ask if they have any rules or preferences on when and where you hunt. This will instill confidence that you will respect their time and their property.
Kids who are at least 11 are allowed to hunt alone if they have completed a hunter education course and purchased a license. Youth deer gun licenses are required for every deer hunted. Children who are 16-17 years old need a hunting license to hunt deer, but kids who are under 16 are exempt from getting a license.
UNDER 10 YEARS OF AGE Youth who are less than 10 years of age may not obtain Hunter Education Certification in Oklahoma, however they may obtain an apprentice-designated hunting license which permits them to hunt while under the direct supervision of an accompanying hunter.
