New York Uniform Rule 202.5-bb (Mandatory Program) is a statewide program that requires New York lawyers to complete a minimum of 12 hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) each year. The CLE must include at least 4 hours of continuing legal ethics and professionalism, at least 2 hours of diversity, inclusion, and elimination of bias, and at least 1 hour of substance abuse/mental health. There are two types of New York Uniform Rule 202.5-bb (Mandatory Program): the CLE in-person program and the CLE online program. The CLE in-person program requires lawyers to attend approved CLE seminars in person. The CLE online program allows lawyers to complete approved online courses to fulfill their CLE requirements.
