The New Jersey Motor Vehicles Affidavit For Surviving Spouse is a legal document used for the transfer of ownership of a motor vehicle when the original titleholder (the deceased) has passed away. This document is used to certify that the surviving spouse is the rightful owner of the vehicle in question. It must be notarized, and it must be accompanied by a copy of the death certificate of the deceased. There are two types of New Jersey Motor Vehicles Affidavit For Surviving Spouse: 1) Affidavit of Surviving Spouse, and 2) Affidavit of Surviving Domestic Partner. Both documents provide the same information, but the Affidavit of Surviving Domestic Partner is used to transfer ownership of a vehicle from a domestic partner of the deceased.
