Description

Order for Service by Publication

Nebraska Order for Service by Publication is a court-ordered legal process that is used when a plaintiff in a civil lawsuit is unable to locate the defendant. This process allows the plaintiff to still serve the defendant with legal papers, even if the defendant cannot be located or is avoiding service. The order is issued by the court and published in a local newspaper. There are two types of Nebraska Order for Service by Publication: Notice to a Defendant and Service of Summons. Notice to a Defendant is when the plaintiff notifies the defendant of the lawsuit and requests a response. Service of Summons is when the defendant is officially served with the lawsuit. Both types require the court order to be published in a newspaper in the county where the lawsuit is being filed.
