The Nebraska Acceptance of Appointment of Guardian is a document that is used when an individual, known as the guardian, is formally appointed by a court to act as the legal guardian of a minor child or an incapacitated adult. The guardian must agree to accept the legal responsibility of providing care and making decisions on the ward’s behalf. The Acceptance of Appointment of Guardian must be signed by the guardian as well as the attorney representing the ward or the court clerk, and must be filed with the court. There are two types of Nebraska Acceptance of Appointment of Guardian documents. The first, Acceptance of Appointment of Minor Guardian, is used when a guardian is appointed to care for a minor child. The second, Acceptance of Appointment of Guardian of an Incapacitated Person, is used when a guardian is appointed to care for an incapacitated adult.
