Pay a filing fee to the circuit court. This filing fee is required in order for you to present your case. According to DMV.org, as of December 2010, the filing fee is $150, but may be subject to change.

Anyone fifteen (15) years of age or older who does not have a valid driver license from another state must secure a Temporary Permit prior to taking the driving test. This permit is valid for one (1) year from issuance.The applicant must first obtain an application for Mississippi Driver License (Form DL- 4).

The three bases which allow you to obtain a hardship license are: 1) continuing employment, 2) continuing education, or 3) obtaining necessary medical treatment.

States with hardship licenses include Florida, Indiana, Arkansas and Kentucky. Other states or administrative entities have different terminology. Wisconsin uses the term occupational license and New Hampshire uses Cinderella license to describe the same thing.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) offers restricted/hardship licenses to eligible applicants who need to drive to work while their regular licenses are suspended or revoked. You may be eligible for a special restricted driver license.

The Intermediate License restricts holders from driving between 10PM and 6AM on any day of the week. There are no restrictions when going to and from work. All other times, the holder is required to be supervised by a parent, guardian, or licensed adult age 21 or older, sitting in the seat next to the driver.
