Missouri Request for Video Recording (MVR) is a form of request submitted to a law enforcement agency to obtain a copy of a video recorded by the police. It is used to gain access to the recordings made in the course of an investigation or in a public space. The MVR request is typically used to obtain video from dashcams, body cameras, surveillance cameras, or any other type of recording devices used by law enforcement. There are two types of MVR requests: Open Record Request and Closed Record Request. An Open Record Request is a request for a video recording or other document that is available to the public. A Closed Record Request is a request for a video recording or other document that is not available to the public, and must be requested through a court order.
