Michigan Order Exempting Case is an order issued by the Michigan Supreme Court that exempts a case from the normal appellate process. This type of order is used to bypass the traditional appeals process in order to expedite a case or to prevent it from being heard in a lower court. There are two main types of Michigan Order Exempting Case: discretionary and mandatory. A discretionary order is issued by the Supreme Court at its discretion and allows the case to be heard in the Supreme Court rather than a lower court. A mandatory order is issued by the Supreme Court when the case involves a constitutional issue or when the case has been appealed from a lower court and the Supreme Court has determined that the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.
