Maine Voluntary Cancellation of Registration of Mark (also known as voluntary abandonment) is a process by which an applicant or registrant of a trademark in the state of Maine can voluntarily cancel its registration of mark with the state. This voluntary abandonment must be done in writing and submitted to the Maine Secretary of State's Office. There are two types of voluntary cancellation of registration of mark in Maine: cancellation of registration for a single mark or cancellation of registration for multiple marks. Cancellation of registration for a single mark requires the applicant or registrant to specify the mark, its owner, and the date of registration. Cancellation of registration for multiple marks requires the applicant or registrant to list all the marks to be cancelled, their owners, and the dates of registration. Once the request is approved, the mark is removed from the Maine trademark registry.
