Maine Transfer of Reserved Name is a process by which a business or organization can transfer its Maine reserved name to another business or organization. This is done by filing an application with the Secretary of State's Office in Maine. There are two types of Maine Transfer of Reserved Name: Corporate Name Transfers and Trade Name Transfers. For Corporate Name Transfers, the applicant must provide the current Maine filing number, the name of the new owner, a statement of purpose, and payment of the required fee. For Trade Name Transfers, the applicant must provide the current Maine filing number, the name of the new owner, a statement of purpose and payment of the required fee, as well as a copy of the trade name certificate and proof of ownership of the trade name. Both types of transfers require the filing of a Certificate of Transfer and a filing fee.
