Maryland Expungement — waiver and release is a process in which a person can request to have their criminal record sealed or expunged in the state of Maryland. This process is available to those who have been convicted of a crime, but have since fulfilled all the legal obligations of their sentence. It allows the individual to have their criminal record removed from public view and to have their criminal record sealed from public access. There are two primary types of Maryland Expungement — waiver and release: 1. Limited Expungement — a limited expungement allows for the sealing of records related to certain types of criminal charges, such as certain misdemeanors and juvenile offenses. 2. Full Expungement — a full expungement allows for the sealing of all criminal charges, including felonies. This type of expungement is only available for those who have successfully completed all the requirements of their sentence and who have remained law-abiding for a period of at least three years.
