The Massachusetts Inmates Affidavit of Indigence is a form used by inmates in Massachusetts correctional facilities to declare their inability to pay court costs and fines. The affidavit is used to determine if the inmate is indigent and therefore, eligible for a waiver of the court costs and fines. There are two types of Massachusetts Inmates Affidavit of Indigence: the Inmates Affidavit of Indigence for Fines (Form CJ-D301) and the Inmates Affidavit of Indigence for Costs (Form CJ-D302). Both forms require inmates to provide financial information and detail their current financial situation, such as their income, assets, and liabilities. Upon completion, the affidavit is submitted to the court for review and a decision. If approved, the court may waive or reduce the court fees and fines.
