Iowa Protected Information Disclosure refers to the practice of keeping certain types of personal information confidential or protected from public disclosure. This includes but is not limited to Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, banking or financial information, and medical information. Iowa has established a set of regulations which governs how and when these types of information can be disclosed to the public or to third parties. The two main types of Iowa Protected Information Disclosure are voluntary disclosure and mandatory disclosure. Voluntary disclosure occurs when an individual provides their personal information knowingly, either to the public or to a third party. Mandatory disclosure, on the other hand, is when an individual's personal information is shared without their consent, usually by a government agency or law enforcement organization.
