A Hawaii Order Appointing Guardian With Limited and Or Unlimited Authority is a legal document issued by a court in the state of Hawaii to appoint a guardian for an individual who has been deemed incapable of making decisions or managing their own affairs. This order can either give the appointed guardian limited authority or unlimited authority. When a guardian is appointed with limited authority, they are only authorized to manage the individual’s finances, make medical decisions, and/or make decisions related to their residence. When a guardian is appointed with unlimited authority, they are authorized to make all decisions related to the individual’s care and welfare including decisions about where they live, their finances, medical care, and other matters. In either case, the individual’s rights are protected under the order and decisions must be made in the individual’s best interest. The court also may require the guardian to file periodic reports with the court.
